INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY



INDIVIDUAL
a.       Definition
The word "individual" is derived from the Latin word, namely individuum, meaning "undivided". So it is a term that can be used to express a unity of most small and limited. Another meaning is as a substitute for "the one" or the individual human being. Here we can see that the nature and function of man, as he lived in the midst of other individuals in the community.
Individuals not mean humans as a whole that can not be divided, but as a finite entity, ie as individual human beings, we can describe, that the individual is a man who not only has a special role in the social environment, but also has a personality and behavior patterns specific behavior itself.
Human meaning into individual if his behavior pattern is almost identical to the behavior of the masses is concerned. Process which improves the characteristics of the person's individuality until he is himself, called the process of individualization or self-actualization.
b.      Individual task
Man as an individual has a duty to himself, namely;
1.  Demanding science, technology and use it to manipulate the prosperity and well-being. Consciousness is pushing to keep learning. The learning process means the process of changing attitudes and behaviors by gaining experience and training.
2.     Adorn yourself and with good manners and morals are commendable, every action and deed in public life always reflect on the beauty and elegance of character it will tercipata coolness in social life.

FAMILY
a.       definition of Family
Family is defined as the smallest social unit that of humans as social beings, which is characterized by the presence of economic cooperation. Family functioning is breed, socialize, educate children, help, protect, or in caring for older people (elderly). Form of family consists of a husband, a wife, and children who usually live in the same house (nuclear family). Officially formed from the marriage.
Each individual will be interconnected. Like an object that is composed of several constituent parts, ranging from the atom as the smallest constituent particles, as well as the relationship between individuals, families, and communities. Individuals derived from the Latin word, "individuum" meaning "indivisible". Individuals not mean humans as a whole that can not be divided, but unity is limited, that is as individual human beings. And among those is definitely a difference / differentiation caused by several factors.
The emergence of these differences is not only nature, but through connections with the world that have a history of the civilization. Each individual must have a special personality. So it can be concluded that the individual is a man who not only has a special role in the social environment, but also has a personality as well as his specific behavior patterns.
We all know that human beings other than an individual, is also a social being. So that they can not live alone, but must each hold a social relationship between one individual to another because they need each other. Some of the individuals who come together to form a family, which is a unit / unit of the smallest communities which constitute a small group in society. The family usually consists of a husband, wife, and children. Family is what gave birth to individuals with various forms of personality in society.

Some understanding of the family:
1.      Duvall and Logan (1986):
The family is a group of people with matrimony, birth, and adoption which aims to create, maintain the culture, and improve the physical, mental, emotional, and social activities of each member of the family.
2.      Bailon and Maglaya (1978):
The family is two or more individuals who live in a household because of the blood, marriage, or adoption. They interact with each other, have their respective roles and create and sustain a culture.
3.      Department of Health (1988):
The family is the smallest unit of society, including heads of families and some people who get together and stay in one place under one roof in a state of mutual dependence.

It can be concluded that family characteristics are:
1)      It consists of two or more individuals are bound by blood, marriage or adoption
2)      Family members usually live together or if they remain separate for each other
3)      The family members interact with each other and each has a social role: husband, wife, son, brother and sister
4)      Having goals: creating and maintaining a culture, improve their physical, psychological, and social members.
b.      Family structure
1.      patrilineal: blood family consisting of relatives by blood in a few generations, where the relationship was arranged through the father
2.      matrilineal: blood family consisting of relatives by blood within a few generations in which the relationship was arranged through the maternal line
3.      matrilocal: a married couple who lived with the mother's blood
4.      patrilocal: a married couple who lived with the husband's blood
5.      Family marriage: marital relationship as a basis for the development of the family, and some relatives who become part of the family because of their relationship with their husband or wife

c.       Characteristics of Family Structure
1.      Organized: interconnected, interdependence among family members
2.      There are limitations: each member has the freedom, but they also have limitations in carry out the functions and duties of each
3.      There is a difference and specificity: each member of the family has a role and functions of each.

d.      Characteristics of Indonesian Family
1.      Husband as decision makers
2.      It is a unified whole
3.      Shaped monogram
4.       Responsible
5.       Decision-makers
6.      Continuing the cultural values of the nation
7.      familial bond very closely
8.      Has the spirit of mutual help

e.       Family function
The function of the family itself, among others, can be grouped into:
1.      Biological Function
With this function it is expected that the family can organize preparations for the marriage of their children. With marriage because they will occur offspring survival process. And every human being there is essentially a kind of biological imperative for survival through marriage.
2.      Maintenance Functions
Families are required to strive so that each member can be protected from disturbances as follows:
a.       Statics with trying to provide a home
b.      Diseases by trying to provide medicines
c.       Disorders danger by trying to provide weapons, wall and others
3.      Economic Functions
The family tried to organize the basic human needs, namely:
a.       The need to eat and drink (Food)
b.      The need clothes to cover her body (Clothing)
c.       Housing needs (Board)
4.      Religious Functions
Families are required to undergo and explore and practice the teachings of religion in the culprit as a human being faithful to God Almighty.
5.      Social Function
With this function the family trying to prepare their children stock-stock more by introducing the values and attitudes held by the public as well as studying the roles they are expected to perform in the future as an adult.
COMMUNITY
a.       Definition Meaning / Definition Community According to Some Experts
In English society also called society, as long as he socius which means friend. The word "community" is derived from the Arabic, which is shirk, associating meaning. The existence of mutual intercourse is certainly because there are forms of rule of life, which is not caused by man as an individual, but by other elements in a social environment which is unity.

Here below are some of the public understanding of some sociologists world.
1.      According Selo Sumardjan society are people who live together and produce culture.
2.      According to Karl Marx is a society that is suffering from a tension structure or development of the organization as a result of conflict between groups divided economically.
3.      According to Emile Durkheim society is an objective reality suau individuals who are members.
4.      According to Paul B. Horton & C. Hunt human society is a collection of relatively independent, living together in a long time, living in a particular area, have the same culture as well as do most of the activities in the group / the human body .
b.      Factors / Elements Society
According Soerjono natural Soekarno society at least contain the following elements as:
1.      A Group minimum of two people.
2.      Members realized as a whole.
3.      Connect the long time that produce new man communicating and making the rules of the relationship between members of the public.
4.      Being a system that raises living together culture and relation to one another as members of society.

c.       Characteristic / Criteria Good Society
According to Marion Levy takes four criteria that must be met in order for a human unity be said / called society.
1.      There is a major action system.
2.      Mutual loyal to the main action system.
3.      Able to withstand more than the lifetime of a member.
4.      Some atan entire new members come from the birth / human reproduction.

d.      Human task as a member of society
1.      Mutual help and help assist in virtue
2.      Participate ease the burden of the misery of others
3.      Keeping and maintaining security, peace and order environment and society
4.      Avoid hurtful words and actions of others so as to create mutual dependence.

CONCLUSION

From the whole description of the individual relationships with six kinds of social environments ranging from family to national, it can be deduced while, that individual has direct meaning if the situational context is a family or social institutions, while the individual in the context of larger social environment, such as the community of the nation, position and role increasingly abstract.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY
Humans are as individual beings in the sense that can be split between body and soul, therefore, in the development process needs to be integration between physical and spiritual development.
As social beings an individual can not stand alone, mutual need between the one with the other, and engage in social relationships in the midst of society.
Families with various functions that are executed as a vehicle in which an individual undergoing a process of socialization that first, very important in directing the formation of individuals into a personal one.
As an integral part of society, the family has a functional correlation with a particular community, therefore in the process of development of individuals into a personal one should be directed in accordance with existing community structures, so that an individual becomes an adult in the sense able to control themselves and do relationships - social relations within a pluralistic society enough.
Communities are groups of people who interact which has infrastructure for these activities and their mutual attachment to achieve a common goal. Community is where we can clearly see the projection of individuals as part of the family, the family as a place terprosesnya, and the community is where we see the results of the projection.
Individuals who are in a particular society means that it is in a particular cultural context. At this stage the sense of the uniqueness of the individual it becomes clear and meaningful, it means will be easily formulated symptoms - symptoms. Because here will engage the individual as the embodiment of his own and a social creature as the embodiment of the group members or members of the public.
Individual human beings who live in the family and society, than it will happen linkages in terms of interaction in social life, therefore need each human life and interdependence. Of these things will form a unique character of such individuals.
